In 2007 I attended one of my first genealogical conferences hosted by the Tennessee Genealogical Society. The guest speaker was Paula Stuart-Warren. It was a great informative event. Now 19 years later, she is returning to speak to the group via GotoWebinar on June 6, 2026.

Her topic in June will be “Ten Reasons Why History Resources Solve Our Genealogical Puzzles” - Many of the answers we seek in our family history research can be solved with the use of historical background and details. It could answer why your family moved to that new place, why they moved in a specific year, which church they attended, why they married in a different state, why they aren’t on a certain census, or what happened to Granduncle Elias. Family history is history. Examples in the presentation and handout will provide some paths for you to take.

From the Association of Professional Genealogists (www.apgen.org) we can find out more by reading her biography:

“Paula is an internationally recognized genealogical educator, researcher, and consultant focusing on unusual resources, manuscripts, methodology, and analyzing records. She specializes in the Midwestern states, Native American research and enrollment issues, the WPA, railroad records, and has spent extensive time at libraries, courthouses, libraries, state archives, historical societies, and U.S. National Archives locations. She is a coordinator and instructor for the GRIP Genealogy Institute and has presented courses and sessions for Ancestry Academy, Institute of Genealogical and Historical Research, Salt Lake Institute of Genealogy (SLIG), Texas Institute of Genealogical Research (TIGR), and continues to present virtual seminars and webinars across the U.S. and Canada. She was a member of the Board of Directors of the Federation of Genealogical Societies, of the Minnesota Genealogical Society, an officer of the Association of Professional Genealogists, and has been a Board-Certified Genealogist since 1988. She descends from eight ancestral countries into many regions of the U.S. Her website and blog are at http://genealogybypaula.com and is enthusiastic about sharing knowledge and continuing education.”

She has written a lot of great genealogical an historical material that can be found at https://genealogybypaula.com/publications/.
